Sacred Creatures - Polly I
$125.00 AUD
Polly I is an original, limited edition reduction linocut, and is part of the "Sacred Creatures Cockatoo" series.
Polly is an classic Australian Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. She has been printed with 3 different coloured backgrounds - "Polly I" has a dark grey background, "Polly II" has a mid-blue background and “Polly III” has a navy background.
There are 4 different birds in the Cockatoo series. The others are Mitch (the Major Mitchell Cockatoo), Gary (the Galah) and Crackers (the crazy cockatoo). Each of the 4 prints comes with a dark grey or blue background (except for Polly, who also comes with the navy background).
Each Polly print has been through the printing press at least 6 times (once for each colour you can see in the print other than white) - and sometimes more, because if I'm not happy with a colour once I lift the paper off the lino, I will re-ink the block and do it again! Polly’s bindi and the centres of the flowers on herbody are also hand-gilded with gold-coloured metal leaf.
You can see the development of Polly (and my other cockatoos) on my Instagram page (see link below right).
Edition: Edition of 4, each signed and numbered in pencil. My printmaking “chop” appears in pencil on the right of my signature.
Paper: Velin Arches Blanc 300gsm (a beautiful, high quality printmaking paper made from 100% cotton)
Image size: 16cm wide x 23.4cm high
Paper size: Approximately 21cm x 30cm (there are some minor individual differences, as the paper for each print is hand-torn and some pieces have a deckled lower edge)

How are reduction linocuts created?
If you are interested in how these prints are created, I have described the print process for "Little Creatures - Squirrel", here.
Once these original reduction linocuts have been sold out, no further originals will be available for purchase.
Please note:
- Each print is produced by hand, and has passed through the printing press multiple times to create the final image. As a result, all prints within an edition vary slightly from each other, with these small variations making each individual print unique.
- The colours of the print may also vary slightly from what you see on the screen (as computer monitors may display colours differently)
- As the artist, I retain copyright in all works I produce. Copyright does not transfer upon sale.
