Skipping Girl - Night
$150.00 AUD
This is an original, limited edition reduction linocut, featuring Melbourne's famous Skipping Girl (aka “Little Audrey”). I have always loved driving past the Skipping Girl at night in Melbourne – as a child I was in awe of the way the rope moved around her and the ground moved up and down as she skipped (I still love seeing that!). When a friend suggested that she would make a great linocut, I couldn’t have agreed with her more!
Each Skipping Girl print has been through the press at least 10 times (once for each colour you can see in the print other than white) - and sometimes more, because if I'm not happy with a colour combination once I lift the paper off the lino, I will re-ink the block and do it again!
Edition: Edition of 10, each signed and numbered in pencil. My printmaking “chop” is also applied on the lower right hand side of the print
Paper: Velin Arches Blanc 300gsm (a beautiful, high quality, 100% cotton, acid-free printmaking paper)
Image size: 22cm wide x 30.25cm high
Paper size: Approximately 30cm x 40cm (there are some minor individual differences, as the paper for each print is hand-torn)
**PLEASE NOTE - FRAME NOT INCLUDED** (the photo of the framed image is included to show you how the print can look framed!)
Other versions of this original print
This Skipping Girl print was also produced in 3 other colours (which were all printed at the same time):
“Skipping Girl – Day” has a light blue background (edition of 4 sold out)
“Skipping Girl – Evening” has a dark blue background (edition of 5, sold out)
“Skipping Girl – Red” has a red background (edition of 3, sold out)
How are reduction linocuts created?
If you are interested in how these prints are created, I have described the print process for "Little Creatures - Squirrel", here.
Once these original reduction linocuts have been sold out, no further originals will be available for purchase (although this print is also now available as an open edition, fine art (giclee) print in A4, A3 and A2 sizes - see separate listing!).
Please note:
- Each print is produced by hand, and has passed through the printing press multiple times to create the final image. As a result, all prints within an edition are unique, and your print may vary slightly from the images shown.
- The colours of the print may also vary slightly from what you see on the screen (as computer monitors may display colours differently)
- As the artist, I retain copyright in all works I produce. Copyright does not transfer upon sale.
