Sacred Creatures - Raccoon Gold
$60.00 AUD
"Sacred Creatures - Gold Raccoon" is an original, limited edition, gilded linocut of a raccoon.
I love the look of raccoons, and their cheeky faces make them a perfect subject for a linocut. My "Sacred Creatures" series so far includes this raccoon, a springbok, a cow, a lemur, an emperor tamarin monkey and a flock of cockatoos (they haven’t all made it to this website, but you can see them on my Instagram page, which can be accessed via the link at the foot of this page). Each sacred creature is decorated with symbols, flowers and/or gilding.
This little print would be great for a kid's bedroom or the small space on the wall you need to fill. It fits nicely into a 25cm square Ikea frame.
It is a single print linocut and the block is still intact, so if you would prefer him printed in a different colour, just let me know!
Technique. This linocut has been printed once and then hand-gilded, by applying gold-coloured metal leaf to the print (using the same technique that monks used to use to gild sacred religious texts). The linocut has then been printed again, using the original plate, to help make the gilding stand out. The gilded sections are then varnished, to help prevent tarnishing.
Edition: This print is an "artist's proof" (AP). It has been signed and editioned in pencil. My printmaking “chop” appears in pencil on the right of my signature
Paper: Velin Arches Blanc 300gsm (a beautiful, high quality, 100% cotton, acid-free printmaking paper)
Image size: 14.5cm wide x 14.5cm high
Paper size: Approximately 18cm wide x 18cm high (there are some minor individual differences, as the paper for each print is hand-torn and some pieces have a deckled lower edge)
Please note:
- Each print is produced by hand. As a result, all prints within an edition are unique, and your print may vary slightly from the images shown.
- The colours of the print may also vary slightly from what you see on the screen (as computer monitors may display colours differently)
- As the artist, I retain copyright in all works I produce. Copyright does not transfer upon sale.
