She Shall Have Music Wherever She Goes III

$125.00 AUD

"She Shall Have Music Wherever She Goes" is an original, limited edition reduction linocut.

This print was inspired by beautiful eighteenth century Indian drawings of elephants decked out in their colourful harnesses and adornments.  My elephant is painted in flowers and graphic designs, and is roaming free among the flowers in her finery.  She has silver rings on her tusks and silver bells on her harness and around her feet/toes, which is why "she shall have music wherever she goes"!  The blanket pattern is based on a gorgeous old Iznik tile design.

I have printed "She Shall Have Music" in 7 different colour schemes, 3 of which are available for sale.  Each print has been through the press at least 6 times (once for each colour you can see in the print other than white) - and sometimes more, because if I'm not happy with a colour combination once I lift the paper off the lino, I will re-ink the block and do it again!

There are only 20 original prints in this series, and there are only 4 in this particular colour scheme, which is called "She Shall Have Music Wherever She Goes III". Once these original reduction linocuts have been sold out, no further originals will be available for purchase.

How are reduction linocuts created?

If you are interested in how these prints are created, I have described the print process for "Little Creatures - Squirrel", here.

Please note:

  • Each print is produced by hand, and has passed through the printing press multiple times to create the final image. As a result, all prints within an edition are unique, and your print may vary slightly from the images shown.
  • The colours of the print may also vary slightly from what you see on the screen (as computer monitors may display colours differently)
  • As the artist, I retain copyright in all works I produce. Copyright does not transfer upon sale.
