Agapanthus - Dawn

$30.00 AUD

"Agapanthus - Dawn" is an original, limited edition reduction linocut, featuring an agapanthus flower against a musk pink background, representing the dawn sky.

I love agapanthus!  I know some people see them as a weed, but I have the blue ones all around my garden and I think they are so beautiful.  They always remind me of the west coast of  Victoria, where they seem to bloom a much darker blue than in the city.

This print is a compact size, perfect for a gift or to add colour to a small space.  The image measures 11cm by 11cm and the paper measures 14cm by 14cm (there are some minor individual differences in the paper size, as the paper for each print is hand-torn).  It fits nicely in an Ikea Ribba 23cm x 23cm box frame (as shown in the photos - it would also look great framed in white!).

Each print has been through the press at least 6 times (once for each colour you can see in the print other than white) - and sometimes more, because if I'm not happy with a colour combination once I lift the paper off the lino, I will re-ink the block and do it again!

There are 5 prints in this particular colour scheme, and there are 28 reduction prints in total (featuring 5 different background colours).

**PLEASE NOTE - FRAME NOT INCLUDED** (the photo of the framed image is included to show you how the print looks framed!)

Edition: Edition of 5, each signed and numbered in pencil. My printmaking “chop” appears in pencil on the right of my signature.

Paper: Velin Arches Blanc 300gsm (a beautiful, high quality, 100% cotton, acid-free printmaking paper)

How are reduction linocuts created?

If you are interested in how these prints are created, I have described the print process for my "Little Creatures - Squirrel" reduction linocut, here.  You can also see photos of the development of this print on my Instagram page (link below in website footer).

Please note:

  • Each print is produced by hand, and has passed through the printing press multiple times to create the final image. As a result, all prints within an edition are unique, and your print may vary slightly from the images shown.
  • The colours of the print may also vary slightly from what you see on the screen (as computer monitors may display colours differently)
  • As the artist, I retain copyright in all works I produce. Copyright does not transfer upon sale.
