Show Pony

$125.00 AUD

"Show Pony" is an original, limited edition, reduction linocut.  Unlike many of my reduction linocuts, this one has been printed in just the one colour scheme.  Each Show Pony print has been through the press at least 11 times (once for each colour you can see in the print other than white).

When I started this print, I had been planning to do a series of prints of birds in the different seasons.  But I was walking past the fireplace, where I have an old Asian horse puppet sitting on the mantelpiece - and he pretty much winked at me and said "I'd make a great linocut!!!".  And he did!!  He is such a show off, so I put him on a stage in front of an old velvet curtain with gold braiding and called him "Show Pony".  Getting the folds of the curtain right was lots of fun, and I love that he is sticking his tongue out (the puppet is the same - I've included a photo of him so you can see for yourself!).  I didn't include the puppet strings in the image - I like the idea of him shedding the strings and prancing onstage into the spotlight, free of all constraints!

Edition: Edition of 20, each signed and numbered in pencil. My printmaking “chop” is stamped on the lower right side of the image

Paper: Velin Arches Blanc 300gsm (a beautiful, high quality, 100% cotton, acid-free printmaking paper)

Image size: 19cm wide x 19cm high

Paper size: Approximately 40cm wide x 30cm high (there are some minor individual differences, as the paper for each print is hand-torn)

**PLEASE NOTE - FRAME NOT INCLUDED** (the photo of the framed image is included to show you how the print looks framed! And the original show pony puppet is not for sale either, sorry!)

How are reduction linocuts created?

If you are interested in how these prints are created, I have described the print process for "Little Creatures - Squirrel", here.

Once these original reduction linocuts have been sold out, no further originals will be available for purchase.

Please note:

  • Each print is produced by hand, and has passed through the printing press multiple times to create the final image. As a result, all prints within an edition are unique, and your print may vary slightly from the images shown.
  • The colours of the print may also vary slightly from what you see on the screen (as computer monitors may display colours differently)
  • As the artist, I retain copyright in all works I produce. Copyright does not transfer upon sale.
